The new volleyball rankings came out today, and they look pretty much like the old ones as no one changed position in the top 10. Next week they will likely change as 15-0 SOU heads out on an important road trip. Their first stop is at College of Idaho, always tough on the road. The next stop will be against #7 Eastern Oregon.

SOU football jumped two spots in the 2015 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released today, up from the #4 position. The Raiders continue to be ranked #1 in the Massey Ratings. All of the Frontier Conference teams have a bye this weekend.

SOU football came up with a big win yesterday, outscoring Montana State-Northern by 73 points with mostly the second and third string players. That one wasn’t very difficult to predict, but let’s see what else happened…
I said Morningside would lose. They did.
I said all Frontier Conference teams would enter October with at least one loss. That happened too.
What’s next?
SOU football (3-1) has a bye this coming weekend. The following weekend will be a challenging road game at Montana-Western. compughterratings.com favors the Raiders by 5. Massey Ratings also predicts a Raider victory, by only 4 points though.
Although #1 Morningside lost, and will likely fall a few spots in the NAIA football coaches’ poll, Massey increased their computer ranking by two spots for barely losing to one of the best D3 teams. #3 Baker lost and will fall below SOU in tomorrow’s poll. Look for SOU to be in the #2 or #3 spot.

Winning games on the road, no matter how good you are, is never easy. However, the Raiders beat OIT this past Tuesday night in Klamath Falls after going down 2 games to 1. Full details here.

The Raiders dropped into a 4th place tie in the NAIA football coaches’ poll released today. Who plays who (or where) doesn’t seem to be taken into consideration. Beat College of Idaho on the road? Doesn’t matter. That’s why the coaches’ poll looks nothing like the computer rankings which have five Frontier Conference football teams in the top eight positions.
The new #1 (according to the coaches), Morningside, will likely lose to a D3 opponent this weekend so look for the Raiders to move up next week regardless of how many more points than Montana State Northern they score.
The game of the week this weekend will be Carroll at Montana Western. The coaches have dubbed it #6 at #16, but Massey more correctly puts it at #2 at #3. Should be a good game.
