SOU Prom Dress Rugby
On 6/7/14 @ 1 p.m. a bunch of Southern Oregon University ladies and their female prom dates from elsewhere will do battle on the field near Raider Stadium for the third time in as many years. Admission will also allow you to partake of the BBQ happening on the sidelines. Discount (only $6 including food), presale tickets are available in the Stevenson Union this week. You can also purchase a ticket and BBQ at the gate.
Warriors of Light @ Musichead (6/1/14)
Tomorrow night (6/3/14) is the second annual 2014 Black and Red All-Sports Awards Banquet for the SOU athletes. Unfortunately, I will be teaching a class in Medford so I won’t be able to attend. Today’s photo, by the way, is from last year’s event. I believe Daniel Breaux was responsible for this cup on Bobby Heiken’s head.
Keegan Lawrence, formerly of Sherwood High School, will join SOU’s football program this fall
@k_law21 The Ashland High School baseball team was eliminated from the state playoffs this past Friday afternoon by Sherwood High School (once again). Keegan Lawrence led the Bowmen with four hits.
Later this year Keegan will hopefully be leading the Raiders in yards rushing. He was the 2013 Football Player of the Year for the state of Oregon before signing with Southern Oregon University. He averaged over 17 yards per carry. The Raiders will be more than happy with an average of half that.

My little guy is graduating from high school tonight in Lithia Park.
AHS baseball – Eric Carlson slides into third with a triple against Dallas
@eric9carlson As I mentioned yesterday, Ashland advanced to the Quarterfinals with a win over Dallas.
The #1 seed, Bend, was upset by the #16 seed, and this is a single elimination tournament. Therefore, if Ashland can beat Sherwood (in Ashland) on Friday, they will host the Semifinal round as well. In addition, the #3 seed, Springfield, was upset so now Ashland has the second highest seed of the remaining teams.
Friday night is graduation in Lithia Park so Friday’s game will be an early, 2 p.m. start at North Mountain Park.
Ashland High School Baseball – Steen Fredrickson
@ahs_baseball @steenF_12 Steen, a junior, pitched 4.1 innings allowing just one earned run while striking out 7. Tommy Hulick pitched the final 2.2 innings in scoreless fashion. Ashland will host Sherwood on Friday afternoon.

This afternoon @ North Mountain Park the #4 Grizzles will open Round 1 of the 5A OSAA Baseball State Championship by hosting #13 seed Dallas High School (near Salem). First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.
