SOU Raider Red Zone Golf Shootout 2013
Yesterday was the annual Southern Oregon University Raider Red Zone Golf Shootout at Eagle Point Golf Course. Most of the participants are former Raider football players who are now giving back to the program. All proceeds from the event go to help finance the football team.
But they did a bit more than just golf on this glorious, 80-degree day in early May…

A hole-in-one on this hole won you a Harley

Pay $10 to kick a field goal on this hole and you can tee off from the women’s tee

Several days ago I posted some photos of Lich King at Musichead. About a million Lich King fans paid the blog a visit so I’m rewarding their presence with some more pictures of the band today. Actually, it wasn’t a million visitors, but blog traffic did go up by a factor of more than three times the norm for any given day so thank you Lich King for the Lich King bump.

A couple of funny parts of the evening were when Witch Cult covered Nargaroth’s “Black Metal Ist Krieg” to end their set while Lich King members were selling their “Black Metal Sucks” t-shirts not far away. Members of Witch Cult then requested Lich King’s “Black Metal Sucks” a couple hours later when Lich King was on stage which Lich King dedicated to Witch Cult. Good times…

The color of the trees when they first get their leaves in late April is somehow different than the color of the leaves in mid-summer.

Southern Oregon University’s Indian Color Festival 2013
This is International Week at Southern Oregon University. As part of the festivities, yesterday featured a Holi or Indian Color Festival.

SOU International Student Association (ISA) President Sohana Bakshi
Thursday night is the annual International Show in the Music Recital Hall on campus. Admission is free and doors open at 6. In some years the line has been so long that people who didn’t arrive before the doors opened were turned away due to lack of available seating so get there early. The show starts at 6:30.

More photos from the color festival can be found here and here.

On this date, a mere 224 years ago, George Washington was sworn in as the first President of the USA. You can find this stone (as well as some other artifacts like the bible that was used) in Federal Hall in Lower Manhattan in New York City, America’s first capital.

Justin Miller of Core System Failure @ Musichead (4/27/13)
Kudos to Core System Failure for not only putting on a very entertaining, live performance on Saturday night but also for bringing the lighting and allowing the other bands (Lich King, Crimson Guardian, and Witch Cult) to use the lighting as well.

Jonathan Holden of Core System Failure
Core System Failure will be playing at Edgefest 2013 on June 29 at Howie’s on Front Street. I will not be able to attend as I will be in Korea in late June. Hopefully, I will see them again soon though.
