2024 NAIA Softball World Series bracket

At first glance, the bracket for this year’s NAIA Softball World Series doesn’t look so hot for the Raiders. However, Massey gives the Raiders a 61% chance of beating William Jessup in their first game and a 57% chance of winning against Oklahoma City should SOU beat Jessup. Not bad. Remember that Massey predicted the opening round perfectly.

2023 NAIA Softball National Champions get their rings in October of 2023

The Raiders beat Marian, once more, today to earn another trip to the NAIA Softball World Series–their 6th trip in 7 years. Looks like Massey knows more than the coaches once again.

The timing made for some nice icing on Coach Harlee‘s birthday cake. Here is a photo from Harlee’s birthday six years ago.

2024 SOU Softball Team

The Raiders were firing on all cylinders yesterday, beating two different teams by a combined score of 31-1. After a couple of early season losses, Massey dropped them in the ratings, but they are back up to #2. Vanguard and Hope International, who Southern Oregon will be playing later this week on the road, are both in Massey’s Top 10 so those should be interesting contests to watch.

NAIA Softball Rankings (Massey Ratings)

Last year, the Raiders didn’t get the most favorable draw for the opening round. They ended up with Massey’s #18 and #21 teams coming to the Rogue Valley. #18 Grand View moved on to the World Series.

This year, SOU received a far more winnable opening round–on paper anyway. Massey has Southeastern at #24, Reinhardt at #29, and Vanguard at #50.
