A metal gig last night at Musichead featured three bands–Indra, The Yearling, and Stoneburner. I was really looking forward to Ninth Moon Black as well, but they had to cancel when their guitarist broke his wrist.
I missed most of Indra’s short set. They are a two-piece, local band. I don’t know their names or where they are from. Ashland? Medford? Indra had a good sound for just two guys. The guitarist was sporting a Heathen Shrine shirt, as you can see in this photo. Heathen Shrine is the other band of one of the members (Damon Kelly) of Stoneburner. Heathen Shrine started in Ashland but now calls Portland home.
Last weekend there was a big party at Southside Tattoo in Ashland. The BBQ included live bands, great food, a car show/contest, a poker run, and a bikini car wash.
More photos from this event at some point in the future…
Johnny B’s band was playing. I think the new Johnny B’s is open now in Medford so I’ll need to pay it a visit soon.
After Foreigner we hung out at the fair until closing time. The Rogue Suspects were playing on the Dinner Stage. I had to laugh when they thanked Foreigner for opening for them.
Headlining the show I’ve been posting photos for was Armed for Apocalypse, also from Chico, California.
After a four-day break for the All-Star Game, Major League Baseball resumes play today.
I took today’s photo at Fenway Park in Boston after the game we saw a couple weeks ago.
Moments after Mother Nature unleashed about an inch of rain, today’s photo captures the view from Brooklyn of Lower Manhattan. To the far left is the Statue of Liberty and to the far right is the Brooklyn Bridge. I took this picture about an hour before taking this one.
Cano didn’t do so hot in the 2012 Home Run Derby, hitting a grand total of zero home runs. Fielder, on the other hand, won the contest after a slow start.
