Kelsey Randall and Brianne Craig made the all-conference team the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced today. Alexa Gonzalez received honorable mention. With a combined six more seasons of eligibility remaining between the three of them, the future looks bright for Raider softball. Kelsey and Brianne were also Gold Glove Award winners at their positions. Only one player from each position (in the 8-team conference) is awarded a gold glove.

SOU football fans in Chicago

This is why lawmakers and Twitter don’t mix. Check out how many characters it took for the Oregon legislature to say that “SOU football was awesome last year.”

The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you want to use them on the web (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.), you are welcome to do so if you link back to traveljapanblog.com/ashland with the photo or link back to the URL with source of the photo.

If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service. My email is on this page or you can comment (leave a reply) to a blog entry to communicate.

Friday night (5/1/15) @ 6 p.m. the annual spring game will take place at Raider Stadium. The Raiders are ranked #1 in the preseason poll, but they will have their work cut out for them this season. Their first real game will take place @ Carroll College in early September. The winner of that game will likely have the first meaningful #1 ranking of the 2015 season.

Congratulations to Aspen Abbott, Cheyenne Bricker, Caleb Diaz, Alyssa Fielding, Eric Ghelfi, Alexa Gonzalez, Emily Lamb, Rebecca Lupescu, Will Parke-Hoffman, Dylan Paulk, Anna Reitmann, Jessie Rozario, Matt Williams, and Sydney White for their academic accomplishments while representing SOU as an athlete. All of these scholar-athletes have a cumulative GPA over 3.2 and are at least sophomores.

Members of the Southern Oregon University football, volleyball, soccer, and wrestling teams boarded buses this morning in Ashland to go to Salem. Some recent grads came down from Portland. Laurence Calcagno made a triumphant entry on his motorcycle.

SOU was in second place when the baton was handed to Amelia Maguin for the anchor leg of the 4×100 relay.

Amelia Maguin broke the SOU record by .37 seconds in the 200 meters this past Saturday in Ashland. She also won the 100-meter hurdles and was on two winning relay teams (one pictured above). She opted not to compete in her best event (where she is ranked #1 in the entire NAIA with a time more than 2 seconds faster than anyone), the 400-meter hurdles, as there wasn’t any competition.

Yesterday saw the return of track and field to Raider Stadium for the first time in five years. Details here. Despite being April, the weather felt like summer. You won’t have to wait long to get in on the next competition in Ashland as Southern Oregon will also host the Cascade Conference Championships on May 8 and 9.
