Ashland Creek in Lithia Park
Yesterday was one of those summer days that I’m not particularly fond of. Today will likely be the same. What am I referring to as I long for my usual Scandinavian summer? The heat!
Mornings are nice, and the evenings, after the sun goes down, are lovely, but the afternoons and evenings before sunset are brutal at close to 100 degrees. To try to beat the heat yesterday my daughter had the brilliant idea of doing a creek walk in Lithia Park. Simply walk into the freezing cold creek and walk upstream to cool down. Yesterday was so hot that we were still hot, both during and after. Anyway, today’s photo comes from that walk.

Today’s photo comes from July of 2015, which was also the last time I was in the USA in July (until this year). That year included a trip down the Wild & Scenic portion of the Rogue River, a wonderful July 4 celebration, and lots of Britt shows. There was also a bunch of smoke in the Rogue Valley that year.
This year there will be no trips down the Rogue, July 4 festivities, or Britt. Hopefully there won’t be any smoke as minor compensation.
Oregon Coast
Today’s photo comes from a quick trip to the coast eight years ago. I don’t think I’ve been back to Bandon since.

You’ll have to a head a few hours south of Ashland to find today’s waterfall in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Today’s photo comes from the Elk Meadows Trail hike near Mt. Hood this past August. I believe this is called Newton Creek.
