After dropping my daughter off at school last week, on a very foggy morning, I captured these wild geese in front of the barn near Ashland Middle School. For the same view, on a much clearer day and panned back a bit, see this photo.
I wasn’t around to see this bear. My daughter took this picture a few weeks ago. There has been much bear scat in the yard recently so I’ve avoided wandering around outside after dark. It seems this bear was brave enough to do some poking around during the day.
A closeup taken soon after yesterday’s photo… I didn’t realize squirrels ate maple leaves.
My Japanese Maple tree has changed colors causing its usual occupant to stick out a bit more than normal.
I didn’t use any zoom on this one. This deer was just a foot in front of me. The deer showed no fear of a guy on a bike with a camera in his hands a mere foot or so away. Normally I pass on deer photo opportunities, as they are so plentiful in Ashland, but the lighting was nice.
These little chipmunk-looking squirrels are all over the place at Crater Lake. They will gladly eat right out of your hand should you want to share your lunch.
This little, single-parent family has been living in my backyard recently. They aren’t very nervous around me either. I was only about 15 feet away when I took this.

As I was driving home a bear lumbered across the street in front of my car. By the time I had parked he had wandered up to Ridge Road so I wandered after him. He seemed to like eating grass.
