More photos from Ghost today (and tomorrow).

Metallica’s James Hetfield said he is a fan of Ghost. Unfortunately, I can no longer say I’m a fan of Metallica, although I do still like the stuff they recorded with Cliff Burton.

Mastodon at Roskilde Festival 2011 (and some crowd shots)

The crowd at Roskilde Festival prepares for Mastodon's appearance.

I’m off to Sweden for three days of music. Expect some photos of Death Angel, Corrosion of Conformity, Alice Cooper, Marduk, Amorphis, Danzig, Kreator, Ghost, Opeth, Nifelheim, Accept, Enslaved, and Immortal next week. Before I go, here are some more photos from Roskilde Festival 2011 last week.

Those crazy Danes...

This group of Mastodon fans waited in line for hours to be the first to enter the inner circle by the Roskilde main stage.

Troy Sanders of Mastodon

Mastodon was outstanding, even better than I was hoping. It was my first time seeing them in person, and I was fortunate to get to take them in from every vantage point. I started out pretty much on stage and then roamed through the crowd, who seemed to be getting into the band no matter how far from the stage they were.

Roskilde Festival 2011

Sorry for presenting these photos in such small installments, but, as of this writing, I have only been taking them in small doses myself. I have about 1,000 photos from the day, and have only looked at a hundred or so.

The big stage (Orange Stage) with Mastodon playing at Roskilde 2011

Last week was one of the largest music festivals in the world, the annual Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Over 100,000 were there, and I was one of them on Friday. My participation is a rather long story, that I may tell at some point, but for now I’ll just share a few photos I took.

The sign of a real Danish danish

danish

If you see a sign that looks something like the above as you are traveling through Denmark, think not that the store it is attached to is selling pretzels. No, this is the sign where you can get a real Danish pastry (wienerbrød). What you will find inside is a much wider selection and far more tasty treat than what we normally call a danish in the U.S.A.

real danish wienerbrod

These sweet snacks melt in your mouth. After having the real thing (too many times to count now), I’m always a bit disappointed in the danishes I eat when I’m back home in the states.

Copenhagen Harbor

Another photo today from the Copenhagen Harbor boat tour I took earlier in the week. The buildings in the background are part of Amalienborg Palace, the winter homes of Denmark’s royal family. They head out to the countryside in the summer.
