On the floor and on the screen at Seibu Dome (西武ドーム)

After watching a Seibu Lions game last year we were able to go down on the field with many other fans. Not only were we on the field but we were on the big screen as well. Ryan was rather excited (can you spot him?). Ellie, on the other hand, had been on big screens so many times (thanks to her blonde hair) by this point in Japan that I think she was doing more to get off the screen than remain in the public eye.

Opening day in Nippon Professional Baseball

After a two week delay, Japan has finally opened their season. I took this photo of a lovely beer girl at the home of the 2010 winner of the Nippon Series (equivalent of the World Series in the USA), the Chiba Lotte Marines.

Hideki Matsui

It’s finally opening day, and I’ve got just three words for you.

Let’s Go A’s!

Godzilla is going to lead my fantasy baseball team (and the Oakland A’s) to victory this year.

Hideki Matsui joins the A’s

Two of my favorite things have come together, Godzilla and the Oakland A’s.

Chiba Lotte Marines win 2010 Japan Series

Congratulations to the Chiba Lotte Marines for winning the 2010 Japan Series. It would be fun to see them play the San Francisco Giants in a true World Series now, but that won’t happen. I was pulling for the Dragons (and the Rangers in the World Series) so neither series result made me happy, but seeing the Marines play the S. F. Giants would.

Monday morning quarterbacking with “Bobby 2010”

The Chiba Lotte Marines are going to the Japan Series this week. Bobby Valentine is not the manger in 2010. He was the manager during their losing seasons the past several years. Despite the loses, the fans wanted him back this year for another go. I took today’s picture during a 2009 game. Fans were mad at management for not signing Valentine to the 2010 season. I wonder what they think now that the Marines are doing so much better without him?
