Portishead @ Roskilde Festival 2011
There will be no European rock festivals for me this summer. I’ll be in Korea, and I’m pretty sure that means I’ll be concert free unfortunately. Maybe next summer I’ll make it back to Denmark for the Roskilde Festival. This year’s Rosklide Festival lineup didn’t have any “must see” acts for me, although I wouldn’t have minded seeing Volbeat, Kreator (again), and Suicidal Tendencies.

I was a bit familiar with Portishead before seeing them at the Roskilde Festival. I knew about seven or eight of their songs but had no idea what they looked like. I was pleasantly surprised by their performance.
About 30 minutes before taking the above photo (after Mastodon) I had a Spinal Tap moment, got a bit lost, and actually ended up under the Orange Stage you see pictured. The Orange Stage at Roskilde is a beautiful thing. I had no idea I would end up under, on, and behind it when the day began. It was a good day.

Portishead makes a rare live performance at Roskilde Festival
Portishead is not a band that is easy to see live as they don’t perform often. This fall, however, they are going to play in about a dozen venues in North America. These will be their first concerts in this part (I’m back in the USA as I write this) of the world in the past 13 years.
