White Rabbit

ashland oregon mad hatter queen of hearts

My first time down White Rabbit was New Year’s Day in 2001. The weather was warm, and I was a rather unexperienced mountain biker at the time. This trail is not for the beginner. There are some serious drops in a few places that aren’t even easy when you walk the trail. The names of the side trails are all Alice in Wonderland themed. For a map and directions see my prior post.

Today’s photo is another I took from my friend’s deck a couple weekend’s ago.

Election time

election sign southern oregon

It’s that time of year again. Last weekend all of the election signs went up around town. There must be a law that says you can’t put them up more than 45 days before the election.

My friend and colleague, Dennis Slattery, is running for Ashland City Council. Voting in Oregon is easy as you get your ballot in the mail, fill it in, and drop it in a box from your car window. No waiting in line at a booth on election day.

The Siskiyous

ashland oregon

I went to a party at a friend’s house last weekend. The rain stopped an hour or two before, and things were looking really pretty from his deck.

This is basically the reverse view of yesterday’s photo which showed the Cascades from the Siskiyous. This is the Siskiyou Mountain Range from the base of the Cascades.

A seat with a view

I took today’s photo last week on White Rabbit Trail, less than half a mile from Park Street.

Siskiyou Boulevard before the dawn

Just another photo from my pre-dawn photos I took a few weeks back. This one is from the plaza in downtown Ashland looking up Siskiyou Blvd. towards the Ashland Springs Hotel which you can see in the distance.

Today’s pic is a better view of the performance I’ve mentioned the past couple days.

Nathan Stein & Hillel

oregon shakespeare festival osf green show

The act in yesterday’s photo was called “Nathan Stein & Hillel: A fool’s feast of balls, balloons, magic and madness.” While today’s photo isn’t a very good one of their performance, I like it for the expressions on the audience’s faces.

OSF celebrates its 75th season

Today’s photo includes the start of “The Green Show.” In the background, you can see a banner going across the street mentioning this being the 75th season for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Much farther away you can see Grizzly Peak.

The Peerless Hotel

ashland oregon

As mentioned yesterday, it took me 10 years to notice The Peerless Hotel, even though it is noted in 1,000 Places To See Before You Die.

The building, and Coke sign, were refreshed in the 1990s after seeing more than 90 years of very few changes.
