Paddy's was one of the sponsors of the 2012 Monster Dash (and a prior sponsor of my softball team). Thanks to all of the sponsors and participants, thousands of dollars were raised for Ashland's public schools.

SOU on Halloween (2012)
On Halloween I had to give a test during the annual, Ashland Halloween parade. I think this was only the second time I have missed the Halloween parade in 11 years. The other time I was in Japan watching their version of a Halloween parade. Rain was falling for the beginning of the test, but by the time I walked out of my classroom in Taylor Hall at 5:30 the rain had stopped and the campus was empty. Upon seeing this scene I realized I should go get my camera.

I have shown you a photo of this house all decorated up for Halloween on the corner of Morton Street and Siskiyou Blvd before, but this is the first time after dark.

The annual Halloween Parade through town happens today beginning at 3:30 from the library to the plaza. Unfortunately, I’m in class until 5:30 so I will have to miss it this year.

This was called a touchdown. At the time I thought Jared Hunt's knee went down when the ball was at the one, but this photo shows his knees still in the air. I still think he went down before the ball crossed the goal line though.
Plays are called from the sidelines via images on the big sign and four other football players making hand signals and other gestures.
By the way, I met another photographer, George McKay, earlier in the day at the Ashland Monster Dash. He was also taking pictures at the football game and runs a blog similar to this one. Check out his Life in Ashland blog.
Ashland Monster Dash 2012 5k winner
The 5k and 10k races of the 2012 Ashland Monster Dash began at the same time. Just to the left of center you can see the winner of the 10k race, Ryan Ghelfi, who finished more than 2 minutes faster than the next racer!
David Laney edged out Trevor Palmer (aka Popeye) to win the 5k race at yesterday’s 2012 Ashland Monster Dash.
SOU upsets Carroll in a 52-49 win
The Southern Oregon University Raiders football team played great during the second quarter yesterday. This bomb from Austin Dodge to Patrick Donahue got things going. They didn’t dominate in any other quarter, but they did enough during this single quarter to allow for a victory in the end.
