Ashland Dance Works performs Michael Jackson's "Thriller"
For a number of years now, Ashland Dance Works has been “doing” Thriller during the annual Ashland Halloween Parade. This year, instead of doing it down Main Street, like they usually do, they performed on Pioneer Street which is a hill of sorts. This made for easier viewing, assuming you were at the bottom.
Looking northwest from the intersection of Terrace and Ashland Loop, today’s photo is a horizontal version of a scene I posted vertically a while back here.
Let's see now, where were we? Oh yeah, the deciding match goes to 15, but you have to win by 2 points. The Coyotes made it to 15 first, but the Raiders tied it up once again.

Tonight I watched one of the most exciting volleyball matches imaginable. The first set was close. SOU had the lead until late, but they ended up losing a close one. The second set was dominated by College of Idaho, and it looked like this would be a quick evening. The College of Idaho, BTW, was undefeated in league play going into tonight’s match up and had already defeated the Raiders at home earlier in the season. But then things got interesting…
The Lady Raiders won the third and fourth sets to force a deciding fifth set. I will tell you what the final result was in part 3. Suffice it to say, it was VERY close.

I’m not normally a huge fan of bluegrass music (even though Intuitive Compass’s strand of bluegrass is more than a bit twisted), but after the Ashland Halloween Parade I enjoyed listening to Intuitive Compass, who set up in the middle of the normally busy street on the Ashland Plaza. Perhaps it was the beer, or the costumes, or Wyatt Yurth’s resemblance to Mikael Akerfeldt; all I know is I felt very good at the time.

I think this is where the season Fall got its name.
The best time to photograph leaves on the ground in autumn, it turns out, is on a Monday morning. Soon after I took this photo a machine moved across campus obliterating all traces of their existence. Of course leaves continued to fall, but they don’t last long during the working weekdays.
I went by Triangle Park in town hoping to take some pictures of the vast quantities of leaves there too. However, maintenance workers had scooped them all up earlier in the day. Next year I’ll have to beat them to the punch.

At the Ashland Halloween Parade this guy was dressed up like a Mormon missionary (sort of) with a “Hello, my name is Mitt” sticker on his white shirt. OK, so he didn’t look much like Romney and costumes poking fun at someone’s religion are probably in poor taste, but it did make a lot of people laugh.

Here we find the other end of the costume spectrum from the squeaky clean Mormon missionary types in these smoking (although well-dressed) ghouls.
