Perhaps the best place to check out Christmas light displays in Southern Oregon

We headed up to Medford and Greystone Court on December 30 to check out the holiday light spectacle. It was raining and Christmas was over so it wasn’t very crowded. I hear it was crazy the week before.

Merry Christmas!

These pretty presents aren’t going to remain in their pretty, wrapped, under-the-tree state for much longer…

Real pine cones on our Christmas tree this year!

As mentioned previously, we cut down our own tree this year. The best part of this year’s tree is it includes pine cones–real pine cones, still attached pine cones.

Sigma 24-70mmD F/2.8 EX DG Lens for Nikon - low light, indoors, no flash, no artificial lighting of any kind EXIF: f/5.6, 1/40 second, 24mm, ISO 6400

I have six lenses as the moment, which is too many, so I’m looking to move a couple on Craigslist. I took a few shots with my Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and Nikon D7000 this morning. I’ll take some more after dark for additional samples to potential buyers.

Ashland Springs Hotel at night during December

Moments after taking this photo there was a nasty fender bender in front of Starbucks. No one was hurt, but the sound of the cars crashing, glass breaking, etc. was pretty scary.

Picking the perfect tree (or A Natural Flocking)

hoarfrost christmas trees fog freeze

Christmas Trees at U-Cut Christmas Tree Farm on the border of Phoenix and Medford, Oregon covered in hoarfrost

We cut down our Christmas tree this past Sunday. The temperature was 28 degrees in the early afternoon and the fog was rather thick. The trees were covered in fog freeze. Even after driving home to Ashland and letting the tree sit out in the sun for the rest of the day the tree was still covered in hoarfrost. We finally brought it in before dark and stood the tree up over a bunch of towels in our living room. It sounded like it was raining in our house for the next half hour as the fog freeze finally melted.

Victorian Christmas

If you are in Southern Oregon during December you should check out Jacksonville’s annual Victorian Christmas. Jacksonville’s “Victorian Christmas Parade” is tomorrow night beginning at 6 p.m.
