AI seemed quite certain when it informed me that this photo of Ashland Creek that I took in Ashland’s Lithia Park was in fact a scene from the “North Fork of the Middle Fork Willamette River in the Willamette National Forest”.

Ridge Road in Ashland, Oregon (February 2025)
In February 2025, Ashland received more snow than it had in over 55 years. This winter, we haven’t had more than a few flakes that didn’t stick.
Sadly, this beautiful monkey-puzzle tree didn’t make it through 2025. I don’t know if February’s heavy snow was a contributing factor. The good news is that the owners have planted another one so in a few decades it should look similar to the old one.

For whatever reason, it took us almost 25 years to visit Little Hyatt Lake for the first time in 2025. However, we just drove by because a scary-looking truck was parked there, and it wasn’t our destination on that day anyway.
Flash forward a few months to warmer-than-usual January temperatures, and we decided to go again. This time we hiked in on the PCT.
