Tomorrow (8/31/13) in Grants Pass (Mel Ingram Field) beginning at 1 p.m., the 2013-2014 SOU Raiders football team will begin their season. No preseason for these guys. The first game is a Frontier Conference matchup against Rocky Mountain College. They won’t play in Ashland this year until October, after classes have begun on campus.
Today’s photo is from the Red/Black Spring Game the Raiders played back in early May.
The Raiders won their first two home matches of the season yesterday in the Fourth Annual Paul Elliott Invitational. They play again tonight @ 6 p.m. in the Bob Riehm Arena on the Ashland campus.
Another photo today from last weekend’s Jefferson State Music Festival in Provolt, Oregon (near Grants Pass).

Friday was the first day of the annual, three-day music and hemp festival outside of Grants Pass. Floater was the headliner. Last night the headliner was Curtis Salgado, and for the final night (tonight), Les Claypool (Primus) will have the honors.
I wasn’t planning on taking any photos, but a friend came up to me during 100 Watt Mind (who were outstanding opening for Floater) and said that I could go backstage and in front of the barrier if I wanted so I went back to the car for the camera before Floater went on.
Brandi has now played Britt six times. I think I have been at five of those shows, missing the other because I was in Japan at the time. The last couple times I took a photo of her indicating how many times she had been there. Now that she has been there more than five times it takes two hands to hold up that many fingers, and she usually has a guitar to hold. So I don’t have a photo of her holding up six fingers because she never did on this evening.
Opening for Brandi Carlile at the Britt Festivals in Jacksonville, Oregon on Wednesday night (August 21, 2013) was another Seattle band, Ivan & Alyosha.
