The Raiders are a 3-point favorite over Eastern Oregon this Saturday in Ashland according to Massey. That was the same spread Massey Ratings gave SOU last week when the Raiders beat the Saints by 1.

Massey has every game with a 39 to 63% chance of winning–pretty unusual. Usually, there are games that are less than 10% or more than 90% but not so with football games in the Frontier Conference this year. Anyone can beat (or lose to) anyone on any given Saturday this year. Montana Northern almost knocked off Rocky Mountain last week for instance, and stuff like this has happened all over the place in the conference:
– Carroll College beat Montana Tech who beat Rocky Mountain who beat SOU who beat Carroll
– Rocky Mountain beat College of Idaho who beat Eastern Oregon who beat Montana Tech who beat Rocky, etc.
The eventual conference champion will likely be the team that doesn’t lose more than two conference games.

With many of the highly-ranked teams eliminated during the opening round, the final-10 teams include many surprises, mostly surprises really. The CCC has the #1, #2, and #4 rankings. What other conference has achieved such a feat in any sport?
Massey has the CCC teams at #1, #2, and #5 (with the #3 and #4 teams already eliminated).
Let’s look at the first-round matchups according to Massey…
College of Idaho gets Ottawa, who Massey has at #21 and gives C of I a 70% chance of winning.
Oregon Tech gets the winner of Mount Mercy and Houston-Victoria, who Massey has at #47 and #57 respectively. Oregon Tech will win over 80% of the time against either team according to Massey.
SOU gets the winner of Milligan and Bethany, who Massey has at #30 and #86 respectively. The Raiders will win over 85% of the time against either team according to Massey.
The only non-CCC team in Massey’s top twenty that made the final 10 is Olivet, the #3 seed.
