On a bike ride last week I encountered some of the loveliest cherry blossoms I’ve ever seen. I didn’t have my camera with me so the next day I went on another ride with my camera. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember where I saw them the day before. I never did find them, but I did get a shot of these.

Ashland Shopping Center (April 2020)

I have never driven through the Ashland Shopping Center parking lot at 4 a.m., but I imagine it looks something like this only darker. On a Wednesday, at 4 p.m., this parking lot is usually 70-90% full. Not on the day I took this photo, however, which was a Wednesday at 4 p.m. Even on national holidays this parking lot has more activity as Ashland Street Cinema normally runs 365 days a year.

East Applegate Ridge Trail

Yesterday we discovered a new trail less than 40 minutes from Ashland. The trail isn’t actually new, but it’s rare that we stumble upon a new trail to us after living in Southern Oregon for 20 years. The trail is a little over 10-miles out and back or five miles if you leave a car at one end. There is a parking lot at each end, although some trail descriptions say there is no parking on the west side. That parking lot (difficult to find as there are no signs on Highway 238 near Ruch) is relatively new.

The abrupt ending of this year’s NAIA basketball season was difficult for the 16 remaining teams, including three from the Cascade Conference. No National Champion was crowned, and all three CCC teams had a legitimate shot with College of Idaho being a number 1 seed and SOU and OIT being number 2 seeds. How cool would it have been had there been three CCC teams in the final four?

Tate Hoffman received a bit of a consolation prize with his All-American achievement being announced yesterday.

BTW, Massey had SOU at #6 in their final rankings.
