Gustav Vigeland's fountain in Frogner Park
The fountain in Frogner Park was perhaps the first item of Vigeland to be created for the park. Made of bronze, the reliefs and statues have a “from death comes life” theme.

The photo above shows the excellent sharpness and bokeh of this lens even on a cloudy day without a tripod. The light in the lower right is not lens flare. There was a light on in the house in the background.

Even indoors, with no flash, lower ISO, and a slower shutter speed the images are sharp and the bokeh is good.

A sample with on-camera flash can be seen above. All of these are at f/2.8. Bump the aperture to 6 or 7 for even sharper photos.

The glass is scratch free and fungus free. There is very minor wear on the metal portions of the body and tripod mount, but the barrel is like new and smooth to turn.

On my way back to Copenhagen from the Getaway Rock Festival in Gavle, Sweden this past summer I spent an afternoon in Stockholm. I took a few hundred photos, but haven’t looked at them yet. Today’s pic is one of them. It came up as my photo of the day.
I followed a Rick Steves’ guidebook which I no longer own so I don’t have many details on this stained glass window. From the date on the bottom it looks like it was created about a hundred years ago for the German Church it now stands in, a building which was first begun in the 14th Century.

Vernazza, Italy (part of the Cinque Terre) in 2005
This is the first time I have posted anything about Italy in several years. Why post now? Recently (October 25, 2011), the Cinque Terre experienced a disaster that wasn’t exactly newsworthy in the USA. However, I stumbled upon a website that contained photos of the great flood of 2011 which literally wiped out much of the Cinque Terre.
The above photo (sorry for the poor resolution) is me sitting on the deck outside the place we stayed in Vernazza. The photo below is of the exact same lodgings on the day of the flood.
