Spring training begins soon

japanese boy baseball game lotte marines potato chip no standing sign

Spring training for the 2013 baseball season in both the USA and Japan begins in less than a month. I don’t have plans to see games this year in either country though. I do plan to see some professional baseball games in Korea this summer.

Today’s photo is a bit ironic. The sign says that watching the game while standing is prohibited. Everyone in this section of Chiba Marine Stadium stands during the entire half of the inning, though, except this little guy who was sitting, backwards, eating chips while watching fans instead of the game.

Last night we watched “Jiro Dreams Of Sushi” and it brought back lots of memories, including some from a few mornings I’ve spent at Tsukiji.

Naruto —ナルト—

At the time today’s photo was taken (November 2009), Naruto was celebrating 10 years as a weekly serial in Shonen Jump. More than three years later and Naruto is still going strong. In fact, it was just over three years ago that Naruto, the anime series, began being published in English.

Personally, I could never get into Naruto. The only manga I enjoyed in Jump was Kochi Kame.

Tokyo blue hour

Tokyo after dark

Today’s photo comes from Meguro in Tokyo. The glowing part of town to the right of center is Shibuya, and the Shinjuku skyscrapers can be seen farther to the right and in the distance.

The reflection in the bottom of the pic is from the ledge I set my camera on to take the long exposure.

Just to the northeast of the town of Wajima on the Notohanto are these terraced rice paddies known as senmaida (or thousand rice paddies or 千枚田). There are several senmaida locations in Japan.
