Even more of Tokyo Tower
Am I up to 36 views of Tokyo Tower yet? I’m not sure. The one below may look familiar. It is basically the same shot from Hiroo as here but at night.
Japanese fisherman under Yunotaki (湯の滝)
I took today’s photograph on our trip to Nikko last month. I didn’t realize the base of a waterfall would be such a popular spot for fish, but he was catching (and releasing) fish after fish (or maybe the same one over and over again).
This waterfall reminded me a bit of Hokusai’s Kirifuri Waterfall.

In the middle of rainy season we headed off to Nikko. We won a free night’s stay during our trip in February but could never find the time or the right weather to use the free night. Our time was running out in Japan so we decided to go despite a gloomy forecast. There were lots of clouds and rain on our first day, but on the second, I awoke to some blue skies. I borrowed a bike from the hotel and went on a ride at 5 a.m. It was then that I took today’s picture, facing east as the sun came up over Nantai San (男体山).
Arashiyama painting
I forgot to photograph the artist’s name of this painting of Arashiyama (found in the Tokyo National Museum). It reminded me of some photos I took of the same place a few years ago.

As this posts we are hopefully on a plane bound for our home in the U.S.A. It has been a wonderful year, but now it is over.
I took over 20,000 pictures, of which less than 5% have appeared on the blog so far. In other words, if you’re still interested, I’ll keep sharing them.
