Copenhell 2023 begins

2023 Copenhell running order

I’m not there, but I wish I was. However, this year’s lineup is filled with big names I have no desire to see (Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Parkway Drive, Pantera, Slipknot, and Guns N’ Roses). Still, I would love to see some of the lesser-known acts, feel the vibe, and meet up with old friends. Of the dozen or so bands that I would want to see over the four days, three are playing at the exact same time (see graphic above)! So rather than be frustrated in Copenhagen, I’ll just chill out over 5,000 miles away.

This is the time of year when the festivals in Europe begin to release their lineups for the following year. Last year Copenhell announced that Kellermensch would be on the bill. I had never heard of them. So I went to their Facebook page and read that they like “Tom Waits, Neil Young, and Neurosis”. I thought, “wow, what a combo, this sounds interesting”. I love Neil Young and Neurosis by the way.

Since then I’ve listened to everything Kellermensch has done many times, and they’ve become a favorite. Their show at 2018 Copenhell was incredible.

Here they are covering Neil Young’s “Don’t Let it Bring You Down” many years before they played it again at Copenhell.

Happening at 17:30ish today

I don’t know what it is about this song, but it gives me chills every time I hear it. Today I will hear it live.
