My Nyboder neighborhood

Nyboder

I’m loving my neighborhood this year in Copenhagen. There is beauty around every corner.

Happy Summer Solstice!

View from my bedroom window in Copenhagen after 10 p.m. on summer solstice

This was the scene well after 10 p.m. last night out my bedroom window for the solstice. I’ll get to watch the sky change behind this Nyboder backdrop for the next five weeks. Some of these buildings were built in the 1600s and 1700s by Christian IV. The church on the left is St. Paul’s and the one on the right is the Marble Church.

My residence this summer won’t be far from this spot.

I’ll be back in Copenhagen in less than four months. Today’s photo comes from a picnic we had on a boat a couple summers ago. The weather was supreme.

Everyone in the USA knows what a danish is, but until you go to Denmark you’ll never really have one. In Denmark a danish (and there are about eight different ones) melt in your mouth; they aren’t bread covered in sugar and icing. I feel a little sick after eating a danish in the USA, but in Denmark I feel good after. Anyway, a trip to Denmark is worth it for this reason alone.
