Treasure Cove
From the Elk Flats and Devil’s Cauldron Overlook Trail
We didn’t make it to the Devil’s Cauldron (or Short Sand Beach as we had been there the prior evening for sunset) as the trail was pretty muddy from rain. Instead we headed back and went to the north-facing side of Elk Flats Rock viewpoint.

Elk in Nehalem Bay State Park
After walking the beach in Nehalem Bay State Park for a mile or so, we had the option of retracing our footsteps on the beach or heading inland a bit to the sand dunes and forests back to our car. We chose the latter in the hopes of seeing an elk or two. We ended up seeing about a dozen of them.
