College World Series Regionals begin

Andrew Moore of the Oregon State Beavers

@AndrewG_23

For the 2015 season Andrew Moore was 7-2 with a 1.73 ERA during the regular season of his junior year. His last start was his best as he faced the minimum number of batters (27) in a complete game victory. The two batters who got hits off him were doubled up. At the college level a strike out to walk ratio of 2:1 is good. Andrew’s is over 5:1.

Unfortunately for Oregon State, only one Pac-12 team gets to host, and they finished second in the Pac-12 at 38-16-1 overall and 19-10-1 in Pac-12 play. OSU will travel to Dallas for games against two teams from Texas and VCU. Play begins Friday.

The Ducks finished sixth in the Pac-12 (37-23, 16-14), barely made the tournament, and will travel to Springfield, Missouri looking to upset three higher ranked teams.

Iwaso dinner

Lime

Iwaso is not exactly an inexpensive place to stay. Not that it isn’t worth it; I’d gladly pay more. Part of the reason is the many courses of a fabulous dinner served right in your room. From what I could see online, the food looked like fish, fish, and more fish. I’m not a big fan of fish. So I asked for something a little different. They delivered. My main course was sukiyaki.

Today’s photo was of one of the appetizers. Fish was included, and it was good.

With today’s victory over NC State, the Oregon Ducks are once again headed to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. Games for the final eight teams begin May 28.

Gillespie had an RBI single in Oregon’s big 4th inning this afternoon in Eugene.
