Mastodon fans wait in anticipation for the band to take the stage at Roskilde Festival 2011
I just finished giving my final lecture for the term and my students went crazy… Oh wait, that’s not this picture. This photo is of a similar scene from this past summer at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark.

Back when Futomendo was all the rage on Waseda Doori a line like this was inevitable. The poor tsukemen shop just a few doors down, meanwhile, couldn’t fill its seats.

Takeda Shingen approaches Takeda Jinja in Kofu, Japan
When taking pictures in Japan, it is helpful to be 6′ 4″. The next best thing is to have a dad who will put you on his shoulders for the same effect. I went with the first option, but the kid in the Oshkosh jacket in this image went with the latter.
I took today’s photo in April of 2010 in Kofu at Takeda Jinja (武田神社).

My random desktop image generator wanted me to share another Mastodon photo with you today, and who am I to doubt the mighty random desktop’s wisdom? It probably doesn’t hurt Mastodon’s odds of being selected that I have about a thousand images of Mastodon on my hard drive.

Tenso Jinja Matsuri
I’ve mentioned before how difficult it can be to capture any images in Tokyo without loads of wires and power lines messing things up. In today’s photo of the parading around town of the Tenso Jinja gods, the wires almost provide an interesting contrast, along with the buildings, to the less-than-modern attire of the participants.
