Trapped under a shrine in Okunoin (奥の院)

Today’s photo is what happens when you are walking around Koyasan and rain begins to fall heavily. I took refuge under the only shelter nearby which was this small shrine. I took photos while I waited for the rain to subside. I could see sun so I figured it wouldn’t last long. You can’t really see the rain in this photo, but here is a photo I took less than a minute later in the other direction.

Today’s random, desktop image comes from my day after New Year’s Day visit to Yasukuni in 2010. I didn’t go to worship the war dead. I went because I was on my way home (via bike) after hearing the emperor’s New Year’s Day speech.
