You can find this place a few hours from Ashland in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. The trail for this view is called the Blue Basin Overlook Trail.

Pre-storm autumn sunrise
Last week’s sunrise before a day of, at times, heavy rain couldn’t have been much better–especially with our Japanese maples beginning to show off their fall colors.

We had snow in the mountains a couple days ago in September. But today’s photo is actually from April seven and a half years ago. The tree had autumn leaves, winter snow, and spring buds going simultaneously.
