SOU Soccer

maddy scott

Ashland had some nice weather on Thursday of last week so I headed over to the soccer field to watch the SOU ladies dominate the Trinity Lutheran University visiting team. After a generous crop and rotation I came up with the above image. However, I’m not sure if I like the “corrected” photo better than the original (below). What do you think?

BTW, this is Maddy Scott. My favorite part of the picture is when you make it larger by clicking on it you can see bits of airborne grass from the kick that have yet to settle.

Fire in the Plunkett Center

Police tape surround Plunkett Center on SOU campus after fire

Yesterday there was an early morning fire in the Plunkett Center (Chappell-Swedenburg House built in 1904) on the corner of Mountain and Siskiyou. Luckily there were no injuries and the building wasn’t lost.

SOU Raider football has three wins in a row

Today’s photo sequence is from the first of those three wins. My Nikon D7000 can take up to 7 photos per second which allows this type of photography. With no big screen down on the field, taking a series of photos of the big plays and then watching them back on my camera was the best replay in the house.

Snow on Mt. Ashland again

First snow of the season on Mt. Ashland

After just three months without snow on Mt. Ashland this year, we have snow on the top once again. Last week’s rain meant snow on Mt. Ashland. However, if we don’t get any more snow in the next few weeks I suppose it could melt before the more typical November snow.

Today’s photo was taken near North Mountain Park. We were staying at a friend’s house while our floors were being redone.

Watching the seasons change

leaves changing color in fall autumn

Ashland experienced some rain this past week for just the first or second time in months. Some leaves have begun to turn colors for fall, but most are still at least a week or two away from major fall foliage.
