SOU basketball – Ben DeSaulnier
@SOURaiders
…to catch the SOU men’s basketball team in Ashland is tonight. After tonight they will hit the road until December 19. That’s a long time so you should probably be there tonight. Game time is 7:30. Come early as the women will be playing at 5:30, also against Simpson. Both Southern Oregon University teams are 2-0 on the young season.

SOU football – Nathan Torres-Walker interception sequence

Nathan Torres-Walker, Julius Rucker, Tyler Rogers
@SOU_Football @SOURaiders @HensleyRatings @NAIA_News
Nathan Torres-Walker had his second pick of the season this past Saturday, part of the reason Southern Oregon University is now 8-1. Rocky Mountain was the victim this time, and they are no longer listed in the coaches’ poll. The #5 Raiders could use some help from them this weekend, though, as Rocky Mountain will be facing #2 Carroll College.
Hensley Rankings still has Rocky Mountain as one of the best 11 teams in the country even if the coaches are not impressed with their four losses. Hensley, which looks at schedule strength and where the wins and losses happen, unlike the coaches, predict losses for the #3 and #4 ranked teams this weekend. If just one of those things occur, the Raiders will crack the top four in the coaches’ poll and be in a position for two home post-season games.

I almost forgot to post a photo of what my neighbor’s pink flamingos have been up to this month. I’m guessing they will soon be turkeys.

Ashland Halloween Parade
Today’s photo is from last year’s Halloween parade. It was sunny and warm for once. Not so this year. The forecast this afternoon is for rain and a high in the low 50s. I will have to take a rain check on this year’s parade anyway due to an appointment at the same time.

SOU women’s basketball – Bree Park
@SOURaiders @SOU_WBB @Breezyyy_13
SOU’s basketball season kicks off today with the women’s game at 5:30 and the men’s game at 7:30 in Ashland. The women’s team is the pre-season pick to win the conference, and the men should contend too. Conference games won’t begin until December.
If you can’t make today’s games due to Halloween festivities or other pre-planned conflicts, they will also be playing at the same times on Saturday.

Club 66 sits adjacent to a cemetery. What better way to spend your Halloween evening than rocking by a cemetery? Check out the 2014 Halloween Bash tomorrow night @ Club 66. If you want to avoid expensive cover charges downtown, enjoy live music, and pay only $10 for a pitcher of beer then this is the place to spend your Halloween evening.

jpg image, straight out of the camera
I have mentioned several times before that there are situations where images shot as jpgs are “throw aways” that had they been shot in RAW format could be salvaged.
Today’s comparison is one such example. With a rainbow outside a dimly-lit gym, I had the choice of shooting the rainbow and getting a nearly black gym (above) or shooting the action on the court and getting a white sky (not shown). By shooting in RAW I was able to process the above image to come up with what you see below.

By the way, Ashland won last night, advanced to the Sweet 16 in state, and will be playing in St. Helens on Saturday. The winner moves on to the Elite 8 round.
