Huey Lewis

When I was about 15 I got Huey Lewis’s autograph before he sang the national anthem at an A’s game. Thirty-something years later I saw him for the second time live, at Britt Festival this past Tuesday night.

On August 24, Lake Street Dive will be playing at the Britt Festival in Jacksonville. That will likely be my first Britt show of the year. Tickets are still available here.

I saw them last September when they opened for the Dave Matthews Band in Washington three nights in a row.

A benefit for The Children’s Advocacy Center of Jackson County will take place Saturday, August 5th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The venue is the beautiful grounds and majestic setting of Ashland’s Grizzly Peak Winery — with views of nearby Grizzly Peak and Mt. Ashland.

Gourmet food truck and wines will be provided by Grizzly Peak Winery.

Participants include Jeff Pevar, Inger Nova Jorgensen, Matthew Kriemelman, Paul Turnipseed, Jacob Ackerman, and special guests.

All ticket proceeds will go to the Childrens Advocacy Center of Jackson County.

The CAC is a place where children may come to share the story of their abuse in a child-focused environment. Medical assessments are also done for victims who need them and specialized therapy is available. The Family Support Team provides advocacy, additional services, and referrals for the needs of the families of the victims.
