I had the fortunate opportunity to catch Stoneburner again last night at Musichead in Medford. Tonight they play in Oakland at the Oakland Metro Operahouse and Saturday night you catch them in Concord, California at Concord’s Greenhouse.
If you are in Southern Oregon this weekend, don’t forget to check out Brandi Carlile at Britt this Friday night (August 31, 2012). Reserved seats are now sold out, but there are some lawn tickets still available here.

Thursday night I headed up I-5 to the new Johnny B’s in Medford to catch The Yearling, Exhausted Prayer, and Sumerian.
The show started so late (after 10:30 and I had to get up by 7 the next morning) that I didn’t stick around to see Sumerian, but it was Exhausted Prayer who I really wanted to see. If you like Opeth, Bloodbath, Immortal, or Enslaved then you should like these guys.
Johnny B’s is much improved over the old place. The stage is bigger, the bathroom is a million times better, and it will be more enjoyable to watch bands here. Johnny B’s isn’t really open yet (no food or drinks being served yet), but hopefully that will change soon and the bands will come.
More than a couple months have passed since this show at the Caldera Tap House.
I first saw Mitsuki Dazai perform at the free Oregon Shakespeare Festival Green Show two years ago. She came down from Eugene last year too, but I was out of the country so I missed it. A few nights back she performed again, and I was fortunate enough to attend this time.

Last Thursday night I headed over to Caldera Tap House in Ashland to check out 100 Watt Mind and Billions and Billions from Portland. Any band that names itself after one of my favorite books is alright in my book before I hear a single note.
I just got back from a quick trip to my old stomping grounds in the San Francisco Bay Area. The main purpose was to see Iron Maiden play in front of about 20,000 fans at Shoreline in Mountain View. I worked right across the street from Shoreline in the 1990s. This was my sixth time seeing Iron Maiden live but only the second time in the past 25 years. I’ll post some more photos on my other blog over the coming days.
