December is a time for advent calendars. My “Christmas” is coming early this year. So with just 10 days to go until the NAIA National Championship Game in Daytona Beach, Florida it’s time to start the countdown.
I’ll post a photo a day from last week’s semifinal win in Chicago until the big day. Enjoy!

Some of you may have found your way here through the link on souraiders.com. I have had several people email me asking questions about buying prints or about finding all of my photos for a certain sport.
The photos I post here are a small fraction of the photos I actually have. If you would like to print any of the photos on this blog, you are welcome to do so at no charge. Be sure to click on the photo to get to the higher resolution size which will print with more quality. If you want to use them on the web (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, etc.), you are welcome to do so if you link back to traveljapanblog.com/ashland with the photo or link to the photo.
If you would like me to search through all of my photos and send you photos of the particular athlete you are looking for I charge a reasonable fee for the time it takes me to find all of those photos and to process them for you. I do not normally sell prints. I email you the high quality electronic files in .jpg format, and you can do the printing and framing yourself through a local or online service. You can also make photo books or do whatever you like with the pictures. My email is on this page.

The Southern Oregon University volleyball team took down #8 Columbia in pool play today at the national tournament. A win tomorrow against #4-ranked Texas Brownsville or on Thursday against #21 Vanguard should move them on to the next round, a single-elimination affair with the other best 11 teams in the country.
Emma Gasman and Tade Atanda were the key players in today’s victory, a 3-1 result. More details can be found here.

The Southern Oregon University football team beat #1-ranked Carroll College on the road, in the snow, in negative temperatures today. Only four teams remain. The #2 team also lost which means the Raiders will be traveling to Chicago next weekend to face #3 Saint Xavier. I’m packing my bags already.

If my son wasn’t coming home for Thanksgiving I’d be boarding a plane for Montana in a few days. If you don’t have plans this weekend, or if you can cancel them because they don’t sound as fun as this opportunity, check out this deal. SOU football team beats MNU on 11/22/14 in the rain

The 2014 NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinal Pairings came out this morning and have SOU going to play Carroll for the third time this season. You’d think that with 88 football teams in the NAIA they could come up with a way that you didn’t have to play a team three times (unless the third time was a championship game which this isn’t). In any event, SOU knows they can beat Carroll, Carroll knows SOU is probably the only team that can beat them, and for all intents and purposes the 11/29 game is the championship game. I’m sure Carroll would rather play any of the other remaining teams.
As it turned out (according to the 2014 NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll), #8 is at #1, #7 is at #2, etc. That means, of course, that had SOU gotten past EOU last week SOU would likely be hosting another game against the #5 or #6 team instead of going on the road to play the #1 team. Oh well. SOU didn’t get screwed as much as EOU, the third best team in the country according to better rankings, who was not even given the chance to play in the final 16.

This Saturday’s NAIA playoff game will begin at 4 p.m.
Although it’s too early to know exactly what the weather will be, the current forecast is for a 90% chance of rain and lows in the 30s. My one pair of thermals weren’t enough by the end of last Saturday’s 3 p.m. game. I’m going to have to double down this Saturday.
