The Siskiyou Volleyball Club 16/17&Under Team coached by Alan Young won the 11-team Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Tournament held at Ashland Middle School yesterday despite losing more games than they won on the day. In the most unlikeliest of methods, they lost nearly all of their pool play games in the morning. In the afternoon they won two of three from their first two opponents (one who was undefeated to that point, Impact Volleyball Club from Medford I think). They then won two straight from Eclipse Volleyball Club in the Championship Game, another team who hadn’t lost and who had beaten Siskiyou two straight earlier in the day.
I think their overall record on the day was 7-8 in individual games, but they won the afternoon matches that counted the most.
Ball knocked away…
…and the battle begins…
…Gida recovers it and dishes to Carly Meister from the floor…
…and she scores.
Both the souraiders.com site and CCC site have published a cropped version of this photo. I want you to have the whole picture, complete with the rim, ball, Sturner’s hands, feet, etc.
