The first, annual SOU Alumni Association Calendar for 2014-15 (September 2014 – August 2015) was published last week. If you are already a member, expect it in your mailbox before September. If you aren’t already a member, become one today here. In addition to the calendar, there are lots of other great benefits and discounts for members. Some of them are here.

2014 Commencement @ SOU

One week from today (6/14/14) will feature a scene similar to today’s photo (from last year’s graduation). Commencement will take place at Raider Stadium.
Immediately after the ceremony, the field will be torn up and replaced with a new football field and track facility. Next year I’ll finally be able to shoot SOU track. Southern Oregon University hasn’t had a home track and field event in many years.
3rd Annual Prom Dress Rugby this Saturday

On 6/7/14 @ 1 p.m. a bunch of Southern Oregon University ladies and their female prom dates from elsewhere will do battle on the field near Raider Stadium for the third time in as many years. Admission will also allow you to partake of the BBQ happening on the sidelines. Discount (only $6 including food), presale tickets are available in the Stevenson Union this week. You can also purchase a ticket and BBQ at the gate.
2nd Annual Black and Red All-Sports Awards Banquet
Tomorrow night (6/3/14) is the second annual 2014 Black and Red All-Sports Awards Banquet for the SOU athletes. Unfortunately, I will be teaching a class in Medford so I won’t be able to attend. Today’s photo, by the way, is from last year’s event. I believe Daniel Breaux was responsible for this cup on Bobby Heiken’s head.

Julia Willison was among the league leaders in many offensive categories and lead the league in on-base percentage earning her a spot on the all-conference team. Ashley Lowe received honorable mention.

SOU Football Annual Spring Game
@SOURaiders @SOU_Football Tonight the SOU football team will take the field in the annual contest of defeating themselves. Although the game is just a scrimmage of sorts there is a bit more seriousness than the typical scrimmage. The game starts at 6. Free parking and tailgating will be happening before then.
