This time of year, you never know what you are going to get. One day it’s sunny and warm; the next it’s cold and snowy.

I haven’t been to Crater Lake yet this year, but it probably looks something like this and will for the next three or four months.

Another pic of one of my favorite trees

I have shown you this tree at least twice now, but it looks different every time I go for a walk on Ridge Road.

Sledding season

Sledding on Mt. Ashland

We headed up to Mt. Ashland last weekend not to ski but to sled. Normally, January is the height of the ski season but not this year. With little snow, the ski resort closed a few weeks back and won’t reopen until next week at the earliest.

The ski runs sit empty–even on a weekend in January. The sledding isn’t even ideal as there are rocks, bare spots, and the ground has more ice than snow on it. These two had a blast though.

Seasons change, the Buddha doesn’t

You may remember this Buddha, meditating with the grapes. The grapes in the vineyard are long gone, and the Buddha waits patiently for their return.

Snow in Ashland, Oregon

Ashland is hot this time of year, compared to Scandinavia (where I’ve been the past six weeks) anyway. So when this winter photo showed up as my desktop background today it felt kind of refreshing.
