Northern panorama from Umeda Sky Building
Today’s photo was taken just after a big storm. In fact, the observation deck in the Umeda Sky Building was closed due to lighting strikes in the area just before reopening in time for me to grab this image.

This coaster no longer exists, but it did six years ago when I took this photo. This was actually the last time I went to an amusement park with my kids (not counting our walk through of Coney Island in New York in 2012).
This summer we shall go to an amusement park (Tivoli in Copenhagen), although probably not altogether. I will be living and teaching in Copenhagen, and my kids are planning separate visits.
Something of a reverse angle of today’s photo can be found here.
In the distance, on the right, you can see the top of a giant ferris wheel. This is part of Japan Monkey Park (日本モンキーパーク), an amusement park for little kids.
The barges in the river are loaded with fireworks in this photo. Later in the evening I experienced the show.
