Prague from Old Town Bridge Tower

St. Francis of Assissi Church and Church of the Holy Saviour (Kostel Nejsvetejsiho Salvatora)

Today’s photo is a reverse angle (taken a bit earlier in the evening) from the same location I took this prior picture. A walk down the street ahead (slightly to the right of center in this image) will take you to Old Town Square, perhaps the most picturesque square in the world.

Osaka Bridges

Bridges over the Yodogawa (淀川)

Today’s photo is my random, desktop image of the day. I started looking at it in more detail and came to a strange discovery.

The three bridges on the right are obviously train bridges, the Hankyu Kobe (阪急神戸本線) and Hankyu Kyoto Lines (阪急京都本線) to be exact. In between is an automobile bridge, part of National Route 176 (国道176号). But the bridge on the left was a mystery. Nothing is on it. In fact, it doesn’t seem to be a road at all. Upon closer inspection I could see that it merely connects the two buildings on either side of the river. I dug deeper and discovered that the building on the other side of the river is an NTT building (NTT西日本淀川ビル). So I’m guessing that inside this bridge are a bunch of cables for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone.

California Coast (from the air)

My random, desktop image of the day is this one. This coastline is somewhere between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This was one of those frustrating, backtracking flights. I started out in Medford, flew south to L.A., and then flew from L.A. to Tokyo. The Los Angeles to Narita leg covered much of the same ground, in reverse, from my first flight. I flew over San Francisco in my first flight and my second (shortly after this photo was taken).

If you click on the photo you can see the coast up close. Anyone know, specifically, where this little stretch of houses between the road and ocean is?

One of the best free views of Tokyo is just a few minutes from the Ebisu Station on the Yamanote Line. For best results, go between storms or just after a typhoon.

If I remember correctly, I took today’s photo just before, or just after, consuming this lunch.
