Andrew McCutchen rips one off of Chris Capuano

Andrew McCutchen has had an incredible first half of the season to lead the Pirates to first place in their division at the All-Star Break. If he does the same in the second half, it is fairly safe to say that the Pirates will be in the playoffs for the first time in forever and McCutchen will be holding the NL MVP award. If you double his first half stats they come out to be 116 runs, 224 hits, 36 home runs, 120 RBIs, 28 SBs, and a .362 batting average. Wow! Can he do it?

McCutchen didn’t do so great in the Home Run Derby last night, but he did better than Cano.

Michael Bourn robs Jayson Nix of a possible home run at Yankee Stadium

Major League Baseball has held a “final vote” for the past 10 years, basically allowing fans to pick a player deserving to be on the team who missed the cut in the initial voting process to play in the All-Star Game. This year’s game is next week and Michael Bourn of the Atlanta Braves didn’t make the initial cut. In my opinion, he is the clear favorite to win the final vote contest for the National League.

I took today’s photo a couple weeks ago at Yankee Stadium when Bourn made an absolutely fabulous catch to kill a Yankee rally. After making this catch he almost threw out the runner on first as well.

I didn’t watch ESPN after the game, but this had to be the #1 web gem of the night.

I spent a wonderful week in New York last week, including baseball games at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field. Today I’m in Boston, and tomorrow I will visit Fenway Park for the first time. I’m very excited.

Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers

I passed on picking up Prince Fielder in my fantasy league this year. His split stats from the past few years in Milwaukee led me to believe that his stats were inflated based on his home field. Sure enough, this year in Detroit his power numbers have fallen way off. He has surprised me by keeping his batting average above .300 though.
