Arashiyama (嵐山) just after sunset panorama

Arashiyama is one of the most magical places in the world, and dusk is a magical time of day. I didn’t have my tripod with me on this evening in Kyoto as I had been biking around all day and still had a couple hours of biking ahead of me. So I set my camera on the edge of the famous Togetsu Bridge to take this 2 second exposure at ISO 100 and f/11.

Five years ago today…

Jump back five years in time and I was taking this photo. That was one of the more amazing days I’ve ever experienced. We got on the train in Kyoto to Arashiyama, rented bikes there, and spent the rest of the day riding around Arashiyama and Sagano enjoying amazing scenery. A week later and the cherry blossoms would have been a bit better, but I’m not complaining.

I forgot to photograph the artist’s name of this painting of Arashiyama (found in the Tokyo National Museum). It reminded me of some photos I took of the same place a few years ago.
