More than three years ago I posted a photo on my other blog showing Castle Lake from near the parking lot. Today’s photo is from the other direction looking back toward where I took that previous pic. The season is a bit different as well. Today’s photograph is from August. The other was from late spring. If you were to stand in this spot right now (December) you would be in several feet of snow, the lake wouldn’t have any people in it (if you click on the photo for a larger view you can see several kayaks), and Mt. Shasta would be completely white with snow.
On my trip to Southern California earlier this year we did a dinner cruise in Newport Bay. This photo was taken near the end of the bay near the end of the Balboa Peninsula. I think that’s the jetty to the left after the houses on Balboa Boulevard end.

Harry Bridges Plaza, San Francisco Ferry Terminal, and Bay Bridge from the Hyatt Regency San Francisco
We drove down I-5 to San Francisco for Thanksgiving today. We ate Thanksgiving dinner at Perry’s on the Embarcadero. We had some time to kill before our reservation so we headed to the Hyatt Regency for this view.
Another surfing photo from my trip to Southern California earlier this year… I took this pic from the Huntington Beach Pier.
Last weekend we headed to California and hung out at Kellogg Beach just north of Crescent City. The weather was fantastic. Crescent City (to the south) and Brookings (Oregon to the north) were enveloped in fog, but this empty beach in the Pelican Bay area was empty and completely blue sky for the few hours we were there.
