Carmel, California sunset through cyprus tree

Two days ago we began our drive back to Oregon from Southern California. To make things more interesting we took Highway 1 for a good portion of the trip. We finished our daylight portion of the day at the corner of Scenic Road and Ocean View Avenue in Carmel.

From near there, we watched surfers surf through waves that hit 30 feet in height as the sun penetrated the waves from the rear. Temperatures were in the 70s, and it was one of the most beautiful evenings I have ever partaken of. Today’s photo came a bit after watching the surfers do their thing.

Today’s random desktop image of the day comes not from Japan but from a trip to Napa we took early last year. The displays of candy, chocolates, desserts, and other things designed to put a few pounds on a consumer were mere eye candy for me.
