Flashback Friday

Tom Araya sings a lullaby

@COPENHELL #copenhell @Slayer

I was hoping to see Slayer one last time (although I saw them in the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s) after they announced their retirement (“Final World Tour”) earlier this year. However, with Slayer shows happening in Denmark and Sweden in December I doubt they will show up at the festivals I will be at next summer. So it looks like today’s photo (from 2017 Copenhell) will be from the last time I ever saw Slayer live.

Throwback Thursday

Go ask Alice

@RealAliceCooper @JacksonCasino #ThrowbackThursday

Throwing it back just a couple months today. When speaking of Alice Cooper, though, isn’t everything a throwback of sorts?

Russian Circles' Mike Sullivan

@sargenthouse @CrystalPortland @RussianCircles

I was fortunate last week to cross, not one but, two names off my bucket list of bands-I’ve-never-seen live. Ironically, two nights later I was talking with a guy who has a similar list. He listed Rammstein and Russian Circles as his numbers one and two. When I told him that Rammstein was also my number one and that I just saw Russian Circles for the first time, he was more than a little bit surprised. Anyway, Russian Circles were amazing; I had goosebumps galore through much of their set.

I guess my top five list will need to be updated. Maybe something like this:
Rammstein
Behemoth
Kampfar
This Will Destroy You
Heilung

Throwback Thursday

SUMAC @ Roskilde Festival (Pavilion stage)

@SUMACband @SigeRecords @bbcbubblegutz #rf16 @orangefeeling @sargenthouse @SargentHouseEU

Today’s photo of SUMAC at the 2016 Roskilde Festival is from more than a couple years ago. The guy on the left, Brian Cook, is best known for his work in Russian Circles, a band I was fortunate enough to see for the first time last night in Portland at the Crystal Ballroom (photos coming).
