Today’s entry has nothing to do with Japan. It does have a bit to do with travel, though, as I’m currently traveling. Tomorrow we head back to Oregon after nine days in Utah.
Pictured above is the nativity on water. Whenever I’m on Temple Square in Salt Lake City viewing this scene, I always expect to hear some little kid ask their parent if Jesus was born in a lake.
We spent last Christmas on an island in Thailand. This year we are with family in Utah.
The establishment in the background says “Karaoke and Party” (カラオケ & パーテイー). If you have seen “Lost in Translation” you may be familiar with these kinds of places. This particular カラオケ館 (they are all over Tokyo) is to the southeast of Ikebukuro Station.
I have shown you several photos of Shinjuku at night in the past. This may be the first I have posted of Shibuya at night though. You can tell I was facing north when I took this picture as the cars headed in the camera’s direction are going to Shinjuku (新宿) and Ikebukuro (池袋). I lived in the middle of those two, Takadanobaba.

When I got my TZ10 back in May I went out one evening with Ellie to do some test shots using the night settings. This was one of the results. I don’t remember what Ellie was doing (maybe jumping rope?), but this 6-second exposure is kind of neat for how the bikes came out, even in very low light.
