Myrdal

Myrdal norway in a nutshell train station

Myrdal, Norway

I don’t think Myrdal is an actual town. Instead, it’s a place to change trains from the Bergen-Oslo Line to the Flam Railway Line which takes people down from this location to the fjords. I’m guessing most places people go to merely to change trains aren’t quite this beautiful.

Moesgaard Museum’s Grauballe Man

One of the other notes at the museum said that when the body was first discovered the locals thought it was that of a drunkard named Red Kristian who disappeared one evening when taking a shortcut through the bog. Instead, Grauballe Man turned out to be from the late 3rd Century BC.

Death Angel photo pit @ 2011 Getaway Rock Festival

I’d really like to be in Northern Sweden in August of 2014 to see Volbeat, Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Watain, and probably another couple dozen great bands. However, it looks like I’ll have to stick with memories of the 2011 festival for the foreseeable future.

Bus ride out of the fjord

Fjord Bergen

If you do the Norway in a Nutshell journey, don’t think that the bus ride between Gudvangen and Voss will be a good time to take a nap because there won’t be much to see. The views are as good from the bus (see above) as they are from the train, boat, and Flåm Railway.
