Once upon a time (2013 to be exact) I walked into a bar in Hiroshima and struck up a conversation with the guy next to me. He asked what I was doing in Hiroshima, and I told him I was there, in part, to see the Carp. He told me he was a cameraman for the Carp. Turns out he wasn’t lying as I saw him at the game the next day.
Today’s photo is from Kyoto, Japan. The interesting thing (to me) about these buildings is that even though they are on the site of a Buddhist temple (Ninnaji), they are Shinto in design. These three buildings hold nine gods and have been doing so since 1644. The stone lanterns in front come from the 17th Century as well.

A few days ago I watched The Barbarian and the Geisha. The opening scene is of a Bon Odori in 1856, and it reminded me of today’s photo, taken at the last Bon Odori I witnessed in 2013.
The first spring training game isn’t until next week, but most players are reporting to camp today. Opening day will take place in Japan on March 20.
