As I mentioned a couple weeks back, there was a good chance Ashland’s monkey tree would be no more once the people moved out. They moved at the end of January, and the monkeys are now gone. Oh well, I still have a few photos from what was.

Our all-day volleyball tournament on Super Bowl Sunday turned out to be shorter than normal. They started the sets with a score of 10-10 so that they would finish quicker. I think that was in order to allow everyone to get home in time for the 3:30 p.m. Super Bowl.

I have no photos of the New York Giants or New England Patriots, and to be perfectly honest, I’d much rather watch the Red Sox or Yankees than either of these teams. In fact, I will be seeing the Yankees and Red Sox, in their home stadiums, in just four months.

This past Sunday kicked off a series of all-day tournaments for the volleyball clubs of Northern California and Southern Oregon in Medford. Ellie’s team didn’t win the first tournament over the 19 other teams, but I have a feeling they will win some of these.

SOU's Tyler Thomas squares off against Greg Alvarez of Menlo College

I’m a big fan of Sumo Wrestling. I have attended live matches about a half dozen times while in Japan, and I watch Youtube videos of every tournament as the tournaments progress (every other month in Japan). However, I’ve never watched “regular” wrestling–not on TV, not live–until this past weekend.

This past weekend I watched my first ever non-sumo wrestling at SOU. The #2 ranked Raiders easily rolled over their opponents from Menlo College.

Wrestling is a horrible sport for photography. There is one light in the center of the mat, and the rest of the arena is darkness. I took a few hundred photos, but ended up deleting about 90% of them.
