Softball season begins today (weather permitting). The #3-ranked Raiders will be playing their first 17 games in California. SOU’s first home game is February 26.

Update! The games in Redding have been cancelled. The new plan is to play Corban on Field 7 at US Cellular Community Park in Medford. Doubleheader starts at 2:30 p.m.

Both teams will return home this weekend for some big games. Friday night’s men’s game will feature Justin Martin of Multnomah who is averaging over 30 points a game. He scored 71 points against Warner Pacific and has twice been the national player of the week.

The 31st annual Ashland Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration will take place Monday at noon in the Ashland Armory. Kamilah Long is the 2019 keynote speaker. Get there early if you want a seat as the armory fills to capacity every year. If you can’t get there before 11:30, head to the Varsity Theatre for a free, live broadcast.
