Ashland is apparently a smoky mess these days. I’ll be back in town in a couple weeks. Hopefully the skies will clear up soon. Today’s photo is from a foggy morning rather than a recent smoky day.
This headstone is rather interesting. It seems like the writing wasn’t completely planned, and the engraver added some words in after the fact. If you can’t read the words, try clicking on the image while on a larger screen.
Capt. Thos. Smith was born on the 14th of September in 1809 in Campbell, Kentucky and died on the 4th of November in 1892 in Ashland, Oregon. According to this site he did more than hold the savages at bay. He also started the Bank of Ashland.
Stoneburner will make their triumphant return to Ashland (Club 66) on August 18. This time they are bringing more friends, including Usnea, Bastard Feast, and Worthless Eaters. Things should kick off at 8 p.m. Arrive a bit early and Uzi will make you dinner.
If you are ever in the Cow Hollow area of San Francisco and want some good, Chicago-style pizza, check out Patxi’s. I have yet to find really good pizza in Korea. My last one was so bad (the cheese and some other ingredients weren’t even real) that I will not be trying to find good pizza in in South Korea again.
Yosemite National Park‘s Vernal Falls are a little out of the way compared to Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls, but the hike is beautiful and totally worth it.
I have only been to one MLB game this year, a Giants-A’s game back in May (pictured above). I have been to several professional baseball games in Asia though. This weekend I plan to see a different Giants team; the Lotte Giants (of Busan, South Korea) will be taking on the SK Wyverns. It will be my first time in Sajik Baseball Stadium which is supposedly the best baseball stadium in Korea.
Just eight more months until the 2014 AIFF… Next year’s dates are April 3-7. Today’s photo is of the AIFF Operations Manger, Wendy Conner, who also happens to be the person who roped me in to taking all of these AIFF photos.
