The atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima had the bridge spanning the Motoyasu River as its target. The bomb didn’t exactly hit its target, but that didn’t matter since it took out everything within a much wider radius. The spot from where I took today’s photo was just below the actual location where the bomb detonated.

Not just any white boy can eat in the Cafe Honky II. In order to eat here you have to be a professional baseball player or member of the press in Japan. This is where the players and media eat in the Fukuoka Dome. Oh, and beginning in 2013 you can’t smoke in the Cafe Honky II.

To find a place like this, and dwell there for an hour or so without seeing another soul, not far from the center of Tokyo, with 13+ million people within an hour of your location, is utter bliss.
